Once again Mr. Abid Iqbal you put in a very wonderful “shair”. Usually, when people start their journey of personal development and success, they hold some fears and say “What…..? IF I could not reached at my destination?”. I say just start your journey, on this way you will also enjoy failures, because failures are stepping stones of success. As renowned tennis player Arthur Robert Ashe said, “Success is a journey not a destination. The doing is usually more important than the outcome. Not everyone can be Number 1″
Thank you for sharing this beautiful verse, it very well explains this concept. You are doing great work. Your path is “Important and Immortal, too”.
Keep Growing

Even though you are a millionaire, your bank accounts are outnumbered all other accounts, you have been declared the best and richest business tycoon of the world, still you are deprived of a full and happy life if there is no balance in your life. The wheel of your life is not in round shape and cause your journey full of emotional ups and downs which would make your life just bitter and sour. You can enjoy your life when you are keeping balance in all dimensions of your life and these dimensions are your own self, family, friends, career, God and society. If you are giving them their due time and attention and fulfilling your responsibilities which you owe them you are really on the path to personal and professional fulfillment and excellence.
Here, I am giving few tips we can use to save time while doing our daily chores.
1- While you are in driving and stuck in a traffic jam or stop on signal which takes more than a minute, you can make a necessary phone call, or listen to motivational audio, read at least half of the page of a book or use your handy diary to learn something by heart.
2- I always keep a handy diary with me in which I write quotes, verses, difficult English words with their pronunciation and meaning, formulas of my subjects in MS and poems etc which I want to learn by heart. I refer to this hand diary while driving, while I am standing at a traffic signal, while I am sitting in a doctor’s clinic waiting for my turn, while I am in journey, while I am waiting for my wife whom I have brought to bazaar for shopping and I am sitting in the car.
3- Avoid making meetings to settle down things which you can settle only on the phone calls. Make meetings only when it is really worth while to see them one on one and you find it too hard to manage things the other way around.
4- Sometimes, when a task can be completed in an hour, we give it more time just because we think it will take long time. Otherwise, time is like a spring, we can compress it or pull it as we need. An Urdu poet has rightly said:

One day an employee sends a letter to his boss asking for an increase in his salary !!!
Dear Bo$$
In thi$ life, we all need $ome thing mo$t de$perately. I think you $hould be under$tanding the need$ of u$. We are worker$ who have given $o much $upport including $weat and $ervices to your company .. I am $ure you will gue$ what I meant and re$pond $oon.
Your $incerely,
$afeer A$lam
The next day, the employee received the reply which reads:
Dear
I kNOw you have been working very hard. NOw a days, NOthing much has changed. You must have NOticed that our company is NOt doing NOticably well . NOw the world’s leading ecoNOmists are NOt sure if our country’s ecoNOmy will stabilize or NOt. After the NOvember things may turn even worse. I have NOthing more to add NOw. You kNOw what I mean.

Robert Browning said: “Better have failed in the high aim than vulgurly in the low aim succeed as I have, God be thanked, I do not”. He was right as it is more worthy to spend your whole life in striving to achieve something great even if you remain fail than to succeed in trifle objectives. Some paths are so great that just to travel through them is a noble act in itself. When you are in a noble journey you need not to care about your destiny but you just need to celebrate your journey, your struggle.
A student of physics said he had forgotten everything he had learnt in his class except this amusing story which his teacher had told in the class. The following question was asked at the University of Copenhagen in a physics exam:
“Describe how to determine the height of a skyscraper with a barometer.” One student replied: “You tie a long piece of string to the neck of the barometer, then lower the barometer from the roof of the skyscraper to the ground. The length of the string plus the length of the barometer will equal the height of the building.”
This highly original answer so incensed the examiner that the student was failed immediately. He appealed on the grounds that his answer was indisputably correct, and the university appointed an independent arbiter to decide the case. The arbiter judged that the answer was indeed correct, but did not display any noticeable knowledge of physics. To resolve the problem it was decided to call the student in and allow him six minutes in which to provide a verbal answer which showed at least a minimal familiarity with the basic principles of physics. For five minutes the student sat in silence, forehead creased in thought. The arbiter reminded him that time was running out, to which the student replied that he had several extremely relevant answers, but couldn’t make up his mind which to use. On being advised to hurry up the student replied as follows:
“Firstly, you could take the barometer up to the roof of the skyscraper, drop it over the edge, and measure the time it takes to reach the ground. The height of the building can then be worked out from the formula Height = 0.5g x t squared. But bad luck on the barometer.
“Or if the sun is shining you could measure the height of the barometer, then set it on end and measure the length of its shadow. Then you measure the length of the skyscraper’s shadow, and thereafter it is a simple matter of proportional arithmetic to work out the height of the skyscraper.
“But if you wanted to be highly scientific about it, you could tie a short piece of string to the barometer and swing it like a pendulum, first at ground level and then on the roof of the skyscraper. The height is worked out by the difference in the gravitational restoring force T = 2 pi square root (l/g).
“Or if the skyscraper has an outside emergency staircase, it would be easier to walk up it and mark off the height of the skyscraper in barometer lengths, then add them up.
“If you merely wanted to be boring and orthodox about it, of course, you could use the barometer to measure the air pressure on the roof of the skyscraper and on the ground, and convert the difference in millibars into feet to give the height of the building.
“But since we are constantly being exhorted to exercise independence of mind and apply scientific methods, undoubtedly the best way would be to knock on the janitor’s door and say to him ‘If you would like a nice new barometer, I will give you this one if you tell me the height of this skyscraper’.”
The student was Nils Bohr, the first Dane to win the Nobel prize for Physics. “
Edna St. Vincent Millay said, “my candle burns at both ends. It will not last the night. But ah my foes, and oh my friends, it gives such a lovely light!”

The best revenge is to forgive. There is no better substitute than forgiveness. If someone hurts you, misbehaves you or do bad to you and you keep it in your heart, you have in fact locked that somebody in your prison and now you have to take care of your prisoner. Your prisoner will survive by taking energy from you and you cannot help giving it to him. It means you are wasting your energy. But if you forgive him/her, you have emitted positive energy which bounces back rapidly with a greater strength and you become spiritually and intellectually more powerful and strong. Similarly you have to get yourself release also by seeking pardon from others whom you have ever harmed. And this is even more important to be spiritually fit and fine.

Yesterday, in my training session in Islamabad, came a very rich and successful businessman. He is running a chain of different organizations. What he added to my discussion was the importance of positive thinking and power of imagination. He was convinced that he had achieved all in his life due to these miraculous habits and traits of human mind. I once came to know that when his organization caught fire in an accident and the estimate of loss was around to be 70 million rupees. He while standing there and seeing his business burning in fire was thinking how he would re-construct his new setup.
In fact what you visualize is that you will materialize in your future. Albert Einstein rightly said, “imagination is more powerful than knowledge.” An Urdu poet also discusses imagination in his verses like this:

R.L. Stevenson said very beautiful word, “An aim in life is the only fortune worth finding; and it is not to be found in foreign lands, but in the heart itself”. Yes, this is true. The real fortune of a man lies within himself. What makes a man great or stupid, successful or fail, happy or sad or whatsoever lies within him. Among two, who will sit on the seat of a director and of a driver (chauffeur), all depends what is within them and how they think. I believe once a man becomes aware of one’s potential he then starts dreaming big, setting high targets and striving for the excellence in life. The fact is that man has been equipped with Godly spirit which God had instilled in him when He created him. Dr. Iqbal has rightly said:

A clay-pot containing milk will always be ranked higher than a golden pot containing poison. Not our outer glamour but our inner virtues make us valuable. We are what we have inside, good or bad. No doubt our physical shape, complexion, tone, demeanor and dressing all matter also, but real thing is inside. It is our software that controls our hardware. If we are polite, kind and positive, it means we have a positive software inside and vice versa.

Men in the world can be categorized into three groups. First, who don’t know what they don’t know. Second, who don’t know what they know and third, who know what they know. The sad fact is that most of us fall in the first and second category. People who took on out of the box thinking pattern and challenged their own status-quo were those who knew their potentail. Bernard Shaw said, “people are always blaming their circumstances for what they are. I don’t believe in circumstances. The people who get on in this world are the people who get up and look for the circumstances they want. And if they cannot find them, create them”. Napoleon said, “whatever the mind can conceive and believe, it can achieve.”
Now the question is how to unleash your inside potential? Let’s look at how great scholars of the world unfolded this secret. George Bernard Shaw said, “Few people think more than two or three times a year. I have made an international reputation for myself by thinking once or twice a week”. Henry Ford, the founder of Ford Motor Company said, “Thinking is the hardest work there is. That is the probable reason why so few engage in it.” Almost the same views were expressed by philosopher of the East, Dr. Muhammad Iqbal:
This is now scientifically proved that thinking is the first step we take to bring about changes in our lives. First we have some idea, some inspiration in our mind, then we attract physical energy to manifest that idea on the physical plane.
The Pencil Maker took the pencil aside, just before putting him into the box.
“There are 5 things you need to know,” he told the pencil, “Before I send you out into the world. Always remember them and never forget, and you will become the best pencil you can be.”
“One: You will be able to do many great things, but only if you allow yourself to be held in Someone’s hand.”
“Two: You will experience a painful sharpening from time to time, but you’ll need it to become a better pencil.”
“Three: You will be able to correct any mistakes you might make.”
“Four: The most important part of you will always be what’s inside.”
“And Five: On every surface you are used on, you must leave your mark. No matter what the condition, you must continue to write.”
The pencil understood and promised to remember, and went into the box with purpose in its heart.
Now replacing the place of the pencil with you. Always remember them and never forget, and you will become the best person you can be.
One: You will be able to do many great things, but only if you allow yourself to be held in God’s hand. And allow other human beings to access you for the many gifts you possess.
Two: You will experience a painful sharpening from time to time, by going through various problems in life, but you’ll need it to become a stronger person.
Three: You will be able to correct any mistakes you might make.
Four: The most important part of you will always be what’s on the inside.
And Five: On every surface you walk through, you must leave your mark. No matter what the situation, you must continue to do your duties.
Allow this parable on the pencil to encourage you to know that you are a special person and only you can fulfill the purpose to which you were born to accomplish.
Never allow yourself to get discouraged and think that your life is insignificant and cannot make a change.

Joseph Murphy in his best selling book “The power of your subconscious mind” draws an analogy between the human being and the magnet. A magnetized steel can lift about twelve times its own weight and the same piece of steel, if becomes demagnetized will not lift even a feather of a bird. So is the case in human beings. One class of persons are magnetized who are full of confidence and faith. They believe they are born to win and succeed. They know they have to create the circumstances themselves. On the other hand are demagnetized persons. They are full of fears and doubts. A demagnetized person even when gets oppurtunity says, “I might fail; I might loose my money; people will laugh at me.” This type of man will not get very far in life because, if he is afraid to go forward, he will simply stay where he is. So, you should become a magnetized man and then you will discover the master secret of the ages.
