The intuitive mind is a sacred gift and the rational mind is a faithful servant.

Albert Einstein said: “The intuitive mind is a sacred gift and the rational mind is a faithful servant. We have created a society that honors the servant and has forgotten the gift.” To make it more simple for the sake of understanding I would rephrase it that intuitive mind is your subconscious mind and rational mind is your conscious mind. Our SCM is a great gift to us conferred by God. It is a miracle-making machine which can perform miraculous tasks in our lives. But we have to understand how it works, what is its language, how we can give it command etc. Once we understand its (in fact ours own) potential we can achieve whatever we want.

Never blow your own trumpet

You need not to blow your own trumpet if you are really something in you. You are a brand too with either good or bad reputation. If you are a positive person and possess remarkable human qualities, then you need not bother about your fame. Just be patient and a day will come when an automatic campaign of word-of-mouth marketing will be launched and started by your acquaintances and you will become as known as you want.

Like a seed, you can grow out of the earth like a tree

You follow a path into the very heart of stars,
But you do not know your own self.
Just for once look at your self like a seed,
So that you will grow out of the earth like a tree.
rahi-dar-seena-e-anjum-kashai

These are the verses of Allama Iqbal taken from “Piam e Mashriq”. Iqbal wants us realize that on one hand we probe into stars to discover their secrets but on the other hand still are oblivious of our own secrets of the self. Whereas, the secret of human existence lies within the human self. We need to explore ourselves and take a deep insight into our own selves to come to know our status in the scheme of the universe.

Two important Ahadiths …

The true “Self-appraisal” …

A little boy went into a drug store, reached for a soda carton and pulled it over to the telephone. He climbed onto the carton so that he could reach the buttons on the phone and proceeded to punch in seven digits (phone numbers).

The store-owner observed and listened to the conversation:

Boy: “Lady, Can you give me the job of cutting your lawn?
Woman: (at the other end of the phone line): “I already have someone to cut my lawn.”
Boy: “Lady, I will cut your lawn for half the price of the person who cuts your lawn now.”
Woman: I’m very satisfied with the person who is presently cutting my lawn.
Boy: (with more perseverance): “Lady, I’ll even sweep your curb and your sidewalk, so on Sunday you will have the prettiest lawn in all of Palm beach , Florida.”
Woman: No, thank you.

With a smile on his face, the little boy replaced the receiver. The store-owner, who was listening to all this, walked over to the boy.

Store Owner: “Son… I like your attitude; I like that positive spirit and would like to offer you a job.”
Boy: “No thanks,
Store Owner: But you were really pleading for one.
Boy: No Sir, I was just checking my performance at the job I already have. I am the one who is working for that lady, I was talking to!”

You know what will happen to your career if you start undertaking your “Self Appraisal” like that little boy. No one in the world would dare to stop your sky rocketing growth in your career.

A story from Saadi of Shiraz

When we were heading for southern Arabia, a barefooted and bareheaded dervish joined our caravan at Kufa (in the north). I saw that he was penniless, but he strode along purposefully, reciting as he walked:
Neither do I burden a camel
Nor do I carry a camel’s burden;
Neither do I rule, nor am I ruled.
Neither have I anxieties about the
Past, the Present or the Future.
Fully I breathe, fully I live life.
A certain merchant, mounted on a camel, advised him to turn back. Otherwise, he said, the dervish would certainly die of hardship and lack of nourishment. Ignoring this advice, the dervish marched on. When we reached Beni Hamud oasis the merchant died. The dervish, standing by the bier, exclaimed:
I did not die of my hardships;
But you, on your camel, have died.
Fools burn lamps during the day. At night they wonder why they have no light.

Yes … you can know the God and see His blessings

The man whispered “God, speak to me”
And a meadowlark sang.
But the man did not hear.

So the man yelled “God speak to me!”
And the thunder rolled across the sky.
But the man did not listen.

The man looked around and said “God let me see you”
And a star shone brightly.
But the man did not notice.

And the man shouted “God show me a miracle”
And a life was born.
But the man did not know.
So, the man cried out in despair.
“Touch me God and let me know that you are here!”
Whereupon God reached down and touched the man.
But the man brushed the butterfly away and walked on.

Ramadan Kareem Mubarik … but are we ready to get most out of it?

Happy Ramadan Kareem … the great month of blessing. But it is highly desirable to clear our heart from hatred, envy, jealousy and every negative emotions and feelings and fill it with love, peace, kindness, affection and positivity to get most out of this blessed month. Allah Subhano Hu Watala does not see our appetite, thirst and prayers only. The real things which He wants us to do are good deeds. Lets resolve to practice goodness to seek His mercy and to attract His countless bounties and blessings lest this month should pass without helping us win “fid dunia hasanah wa fil aakhira hasanah”.

Your problem is not your problem, but …

Your problem is never really your problem, your reaction to your your problem is in fact your problem — Brian Kinsey. I got this beautiful quote through some unanimous sms. It is in fact hundred percent correct. It is not what happens to us that determines our lives. But how we react to what happens to us is that what determines our lives. It is rightly said that life is 10% what happens to you and 90% what you do with what happens to you. A student may commit suicide after standing fail in the exam whereas the other may resolve to work hard and to stand first in the class in the next exams. So, the real thing is how you respond to other persons, things and circumstances. And in fact your response is all that matters and determines how you will lead your further life.
