life is to be lived, not worked, enjoyed, not agonized, loved, not hated.

Leland Bartlett says: “I believe life is to be lived, not worked, enjoyed, not agonized, loved, not hated.” Someone said beautiful words, “How people find time to hate, while life is too short to love”.

The object of search (Rabb) lives within our own heart …

Sufi Baba Farid says:

baba-farid-_-jungle-jungle-kia-bhonwen

(Farid!) what are you trying to find in jungles and trampling thorns in every forest? Rabb (Almighty God) resides in your own heart. Why do you seek Him in jungles?
Baba Jee addresses himself while advising all seekers of the divine being to look within themselves for God dwells in our heart. Saintly people need not go to jungles and confront unnecessary hardships in their search for the Divine Truth. Walking on thorns and passing by or resting (for a while) amongst thorny tress is futile because the object of search (God) lives within our own heart.

Learn, Earn and then Return …

Yesterday in the monthly members meeting of Positive Pakistan Foundation Faisalabad Chapter, Mr Umar Farooq Mufti told a wise word. He said, in the life of every good man, there are three stages through which he passes along. In the first phase, he learns from the society. Then he earns on account of that knowledge which he has acquired. Now that he is morally obliged to pay back to the society, in the third phase. Its time to Return for what he has got from society.

Hold fast to dreams, for if dreams die …

Langston Hughes says:
Hold fast to dreams, for if dreams die, life is a broken winged bird that cannot fly.

Jim Valvano says:
How do you go from where you are to where you want to be? I think you have to have an enthusiasm for life. You have to have a dream, a goal and you have to be willing to work for it.

They say Western lady is more charming than heaven’s Hoor, but …

Iqbal says that Eastern s are stunned and overwhelmed by the astonishing beauty of English women and deem it more beautiful than heaven’s hoor. Silver seems white and very attractive when you see it from distance but when you try to play with it and come closer, it makes your hands and dress black and dirty. To put it simply we can say, ‘all that glitters is not gold’.

The test to find whether your mission on earth is finished …

Richard Bach suggests a test, ‘Here is the test to find whether your mission on earth is finished: If you’re alive, it isn’t.’ William Lloyd George says, ‘He’s no failure. He’s not dead yet.’ Whenever I face some setback or failure in my life, I say to myself, ‘Nothing is end of life except death’. If you are alive, you still have a chance to succeed. I did learn it from a mojor who was taking our tests while I appeared in Inter Services Selection Board (ISSB) at Kohat. The gentleman advised us not to worry if we would fail in being selected for Pak Army. He further said, ‘This is not end of life’. That wise saying of that wise man remain afresh in my mind and I recall them whenever need be.

Rent for living on the planet …

Marian Wright Edelman has rightly said, ‘Service is the very purpose of life. It is the rent we pay for living on the planet.’ This is the debt we owe to Universe for giving us a chance to live and enjoy being human being. God has not created man just for the sake of prayers (Ibadaat) for which Angels were enough. Rather, He has created man for service to humanity. The very purpose of the existence of mankind.

Just five more minutes! 1 Story, 3 Lessons

While at the park one day, a woman sat down next to a man on a bench near a playground.

“That’s my son over there,” she said, pointing to a little boy in a red sweater who was gliding down the slide.

“He’s a fine looking boy” the man said. “That’s my daughter on the bike in the white dress.”

Then, looking at his watch, he called to his daughter. “What do you say we go, Maria?”

Maria pleaded, “Just five more minutes, Dad. Please? Just five more minutes.”

The man nodded and Maria continued to ride her bike to her heart’s content. Minutes passed and the father stood and called again to his daughter. “Time to go now?”

Again Maria pleaded, “Five more minutes, Dad. Just five more minutes.”

The man smiled and said, “OK.”

“You certainly are a patient father,” the woman exclaimed.

The man smiled and then said, “Her older brother Tommy was killed by a drunk driver last year while he was riding his bike near here. I never spent much time with Tommy and now I’d give anything for just five more minutes with him. I’ve vowed not to make the same mistake with Maria.

She thinks she has five more minutes to ride her bike. The truth is, I get Five more minutes to watch her play.”

We can learn many lessons out of this short story but the three obvious ones are:

1 - Life is all about making priorities, what are your priorities?

2 - Give someone you love 5 more minutes of your time today! This will give you more pleasure and peace of mind.

3 - This little story gives us another lesson too and that is ‘Change Your Lens, Change Your World’. The man acts in lieu of reacting. He does not annoy when his daughter asks for five more minutes. The truth is, when your mind or thinking pattern is in your control, nothing can give you tension, anger or anxiety.

A new resolution called Takmeel-e-Pakistan proposed by Zaid Hamid is going to be passed on 23rd March 2010 at the same place, the Minar-e-Pakistan where 70 years back Pakistan resolution was passed and resulted in the current existence of Pakistan as a country on world map.

The most beautiful part of existence is the ability to dream …

Have you ever clung to a desire for so long that your eyes saw nothing else? The most beautiful part of existence is the ability to dream, to aspire toward a goal, no matter how lofty! Like the little girl with her hand outstretched to the stars, hoping for just one touch of the cosmos. Try
