The world is waiting for you

Do not be afraid to shine.
The world needs what you have to give.

Open up the areas of your being;
Expose them to yourself - to others.
You are valuable. You are unique.

You have much to give.
Do not be afraid to give it.
As we risk ourselves, we grow.
Each new experience is a risk.

We can try, and maybe fail; And, as a result,
grow or hold back and stagnate.

You have the potential to be anything you want.
You are free to choose.
You are limited only by your fears.
Let your dreams take over.

Fly with the eagles. Soar into life.
The world is waiting for you.

Wealth cannot help you have a good sleep!

To have a peaceful and full sleep, you need peace and that does not come from wealth but from satisfaction, love, gratitude, kindness and from you good deeds.

Life is wonderful if you know …

Your life is as lonely as you would like to make it.
Your joy is as much as you would like to feel it.
Your night is as long as you decide to keep asleep.
Your destination is as far as you think it is.
Your sky is as much as you want to reach.

All you need is … a positive approach. Just spread your wings and decide to fly. The secret of life lies in thinking big, doing continuous struggle and not to be discouraged by the adversities. Life would be boring if there would be no sweat and toil. Let me cite here a great verse of Iqbal.
aan-sakht-kosh-cheesat
How great it is that Sikander (the great fighter) puts his heart and soul into struggle to get water from the stone, in lieu of asking Khizer to give it to him. The name of Sikander is also still alive without drinking ‘Aab e Hayat’ (the water that grants immortal life) and it is due to his that sweat and toil, he had in his struggle.

8 ways to ‘EARN’ even after death …

One of my favourite students, has sent me this beautiful sms today which I am giving here with some slight alteration. She has mentioned some ways which would help you earn ’swab’ (blessings) after death.

1- Give a copy of Holy book to someone. Each time they read, you gain.
2- Donate a wheel chair to a hospital, each time any sick person uses it, you will gain.
3- Teach someone a word of wisdom, or how to read, write or learn anything. Its also ‘Sadqa Jaria’.
4- Place water cooler on public place so that people may benefit from it.
5- Participate in the construction of a masjid, school, college, hospital etc.
6- Plant a tree and whenever any one uses its shade or fruit, you will gain.
7- Serve your parents. (Its a source of great and continuous blessings)
8- Bring up your children and help them be a good human being. Whatever they will do good in their lives, you will be blessed by the God, here as well as in the hereafter.

Let me add here, that there are countless ways which can help you earn more and more blessings of God. And I strongly believe in the Law of Attraction, by which you get what what you give out. Give love and you will be loved. Spread happiness and the world will do its utmost to keep you happy. Serve others and the world will be at your service, and vice versa. This is very simple and this is one of the many laws of nature.

A poem by Rumi

I don’t need
a companion who is
nasty sad and sour

the one who is
like a grave
dark depressing and bitter

a sweetheart is a mirror
a friend a delicious cake
it isn’t worth spending
an hour with anyone else

a companion who is
in love only with the self
has five distinct characters

stone hearted
unsure of every step
lazy and disinterested
keeping a poisonous face

the more this companion waits around
the more bitter everything will get
just like a vinegar
getting more sour with time

enough is said about
sour and bitter faces
a heart filled with desire for
sweetness and tender souls
must not waste itself with unsavory matters

Ghazal (Ode) 119
Translation by Nader Khalili

In the end, darkness is to meet an end …

urdu-poetry_-qadm-ab-ukhrnay-lagay-hen
The darkness may prolong, but how long. Its destiny is to meet an end, at last. Finally dawn has to appear to announce the arrival of the day, the light, the hope, the life. The devil may appear very strong, very powerful armed with so called technology. But what on earth can overcome the power of faith. There is nothing more powerful than power of faith, passion and human will and determination.

The Glorious Past …

Abu Bakr, in the early days of his Caliphate, managed on the wage he earned by milking the cattle of one of his neighbors. Some time later, some Companions led by ‘Umar made him this offer: ‘As the Commander-in-chief of the Muslims, you have much work to do. Therefore, give up milking cattle and let us assign a fixed salary for your needs as Caliph.’

Abu Bakr spent from this salary for his living expenses and stored any surplus in a pot. He told those around his death-bed to hand that pot over to the one nominated to replace him as Caliph.

Come what may, my love will not end …

baba-fareed_poetry_bhijjo-sijjo-kambly
Bhijjo, sijjo kambly! Allah warso meeinh!
Jaey millan tinhaan sajnaan tutto naaheen neeinh.
(Baba Fareed)

Baba jee says: Blanket get wet; get drenched! Allah!let the rain fall (in torrents).
(My commitment is firm) so (come what may) I’ll go (walking through muddy lanes) and my love will not end (in frustration or despair) (our relationship will not break)

In this couplet Baba jee finally determines to proceed on the right path leading to the Beloved spurning on the difficulties and turmoils and troubles of this path and willing to undergo all rigours of the saintly path, the poet decides (or chooses to be ) firm in upholding his love and commitment with the Beloved. A true saint never bothers about the hardships on the way to his Beloved’s home-the ultimate destinantion. Similarly, a sincere lover also over rides all hindrances and hurdles and unmindful of calumny, treads on the path leading to his sweetheart’s residence.
